A comment-to-DM funnel is just a keyword plus a promise. The magic is matching the promise to what your audience already wants in that moment. Here are ten funnels creators are running right now, with the exact keywords and DM structures that make them work.
1. The lead magnet funnel
Keyword: GUIDE. The classic. Post a carousel sharing your top 5 tips, then offer the full 30-page version via DM. This builds your email list on autopilot — every DM contains your link with an email capture.
2. The template drop
Keyword: TEMPLATE. Show a Canva template, Notion dashboard, or caption framework in action. Creators report template funnels get 2–3x more comments than freebie PDFs because the value is visible in the post itself.
3. The affiliate drop
Keyword: LINK (or the product name). Demo a product you genuinely use, then DM your affiliate link with an honest note about who it's for. Disclosure stays in the post and the DM — trust converts better than trickery.
4. The waitlist funnel
Keyword: EARLY. Tease a course, product, or cohort that isn't live yet. The DM collects emails for a waitlist and promises early-bird pricing. Scarcity + zero friction is a potent combo.
5. The quiz qualifier
Keyword: PLAN. The DM asks one qualifying question (“What are you training for?”) and segments respondents into your email flow. Coaches use this to pre-qualify discovery calls — only warm leads hit the calendar link.
6. The content upgrade
Keyword: NOTES. “I shared 3 of the 7 mistakes in this reel — comment NOTES and I'll DM the full checklist.” You're not adding work; you're completing something they already consumed.
7. The discount vault
Keyword: CODE. Great for creator merch and brand partnerships. The DM delivers a limited-time discount code with your link. Add an expiry to the code and watch urgency do its thing.
8. The resource library
Keyword: TOOLKIT. Instead of one asset, DM a branded link page with 5–6 curated resources. This works brilliantly with link-in-DM tools because you can update the page without changing the DM.
9. The community invite
Keyword: INSIDE. DM an invite link to your broadcast channel, Discord, or membership. Comments signal interest; the DM converts it into community — which feeds future funnels.
10. The reply-bait newsletter
Keyword: WEEKLY. Deliver your newsletter signup with a specific promise (“one teardown every Friday”). Because the subscriber came from a DM, open rates tend to run noticeably higher than cold bio-link signups.
“I run four different keywords across my last four posts. Each one has a different job — list building, sales, community, and affiliate revenue.”
